Where can I watch the World Cup in Budapest?

Updated 2018 July 15 / by Matthew Anderson / Leave a Comment

As we mentioned in our post on Hungarian television, MediaKlikk is a great option for football (soccer) fans to stream the World Cup 2018. Just visit their site, click “Élő” (“Live”) in the extreme upper right, and then click on the M4 Sport channel. Hit the “play” button there, and you should be good to go.

MediaKlikk taps into Hungarian public broadcasting, with seven TV and seven radio channels available.

Public TV options are M1 (news), M2 (children’s programming), M3 (music, sitcoms, etc.), M4 (sports), M5, Duna and DunaWorld.

Naturally, just about every bar in town (and there are many) will be showing the World Cup games live, too. There are huge screens set up in Liberty Square (Szabadság tér), where hordes of fans are gathering to cheer on their favorite squads. The city is well into football fever; hit any playground during the day and you’ll likely find kids in their kits running around emulating their favorite stars.
